Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill brings together the worlds of Blue Ribbon Sushi and Blue Ribbon Brasserie in a single restaurant, at the 6 Columbus Hotel on 58th Street, just off Columbus Circle. The restaurant's bar is entered through the hotel lobby, and is separated from the lobby by a screen of flamed limestone slabs and glass set into a teak frame. From the bar, a sequence of spaces are a metaphor for the city; a street-like corridor, with intimate banquette seating akin to stalls at a market, opens into the grand dining room, like a piazza, anchored at one end by the sushi bar. Off the dining room, a series of alcoves create a variety of dining experiences. Warmly lit natural materials - wood, limestone, polished plaster, blackened steel, and mirrored glass unify the different dining spaces into a harmonious composition. A richly textured irregular ceiling composed of wooden beams, slats, and custom integrated lights create an abstraction of the sky over the piazza.
