FORD RESIDENCE

Sleepy Hollow, NY

The residence at Sleepy Hollow is an addition and restoration of an existing 19th Century house, perched on a steeply graded site, with views of the Hudson River in the distance. Consistent with the nature of the original home, a modest addition allows the new and old to merge together into a single, larger entity. The existing house, the addition, and the exterior living spaces are organized by a new stone plinth and terrace that anchor the residence to the landscape and delineate a stone base and upper wood structure. A well defined, covered outdoor space, that includes a sitting area and a fireplace, was created between the addition and the new garage.
